Larry D. Dennis, 75, of Oblong, IL passed away on Saturday March 31, 2018 at Crawford Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Crawford County, IL on April 1, 1942 to Donald J. Dennis and Agnes I. (Martin) Dennis. On April 13, 1963 he married Martha Bond who survives.
Larry had worked at Briggs Pottery for thirty-two years as a caster and modeler. Her served in the United States Army and was a member of the Berlin Congregational Christian Church. Larry was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing and passing his knowledge of the outdoors on to his children, son-in-laws and grandchildren. He enjoyed attending their sporting events and other activities as much as possible as well as their frequent visits and conversations. Larry will be remembered by many as a humble man who cared deeply for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Martha Dennis, Oblong, IL; two daughters and sons-in-law Shelly and Scott Johnson, Newton, IL and Jill and Greg Hackett, Oblong, IL; seven grandchildren Kristin Henry, Dylan Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Braxton Young, Isaac Hackett, Owen Hackett and JD and Ashley Hackett; two great grandchildren Lilly Jo Johnson and Alex Hackett. Larry is also survived by several nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Elizabeth and Ronnie Maxwell, Josephine and Roy Weck and brother-in-law Kenny Sears.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lilly Sears, brother Robert Dennis, mother-in-law and father-in-law Matthew and Gertie Bond and infant son Craig Dennis.
